Background and Purpose
The Bridge International Conference on Chinese for Professional and Applied Contexts is an international platform jointly initiated by universities, academic organizations, and relevant non-governmental institutions in the United States and China. Anchored in language and culture as a shared foundation, the conference brings together academic exchange, project and resource showcases, educational collaboration, and practice-based innovation, with the goal of serving broader societal and industry needs. The conference places particular emphasis on advancing dialogue and development in “Chinese+” initiatives, vocational education, and applied Chinese education.
The inaugural Bridge Conference was successfully held in California in 2025, attracting wide participation from universities, educational institutions, and scholars from the United States, Canada, China, Japan, Vietnam, and other countries and regions. Productive exchanges and collaborative foundations were established in areas such as Chinese for Specific Purposes, professional Chinese, and AI-enhanced Chinese teaching. Building on this foundation, Bridge 2026 is scheduled to take place in mid-August 2026 in New York, USA. The conference will further expand the depth and breadth of academic innovation, inter-institutional exchange, university–industry collaboration, cultural dialogue, and organizational cooperation.
